What Does a Spiral Timeline Look Like ?

Last updated on - 30 June, 2025

When most people imagine a timeline, they picture a straight line: the present on the far right, the past stretching off to the left — perhaps covering years, decades, or even millennia.

But a spiral timeline holds the same information while offering something more: a visual sense of growth and recurrence.

A Real Example: Page 300 (January 20th)

To show how a spiral timeline works in Dream Story Live, I selected Page 300, which corresponds to January 20th. It’s a date I remember well — it’s my father’s birthday, and occasionally falls on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Using the premium version of the app, I looked back at past journal entries and photos from that day over the years. The spiral view allowed me to reflect on:

  • How my dreams have evolved
  • Whether I’m moving toward my life purpose
  • If I’m still making room for joy and meaningful emotions

The photo above is of January 2019. In January 2019, I was in Boston during what I called my “year of retirement” — a period of pause and reflection. Boston, close to my children, was also a symbolic place: a city where the founding fathers once reflected on freedom.

Fast forward - the photo below was taken on January 20th 2024 - when my Princess (my wife) came home from a networking meeting. She met someone developing an app, and we were inspired. I took a picture of it and said I would contact them, and then, just a year later, Dream Story Live became real, developed by SolGuruz, and launched on the web, Apple App Store, and Google Play.

This kind of reflection is what makes the spiral timeline so powerful. You can revisit any page to see your personal growth story unfold, one revolution at a time.

In a spiral, every return to a date brings you back — but at a higher level of insight.
